Тип принтеров, в основу работы которых положен перенос цветных красителей со специальной лавсановой пленки на бумагу под действием высокой температуры (аналогично wax transfer printer). Площадка растровой точки запечатывается полностью и равномерно, вследствие чего на оттиске отсутствует растровая структура. Имеет очень широкий цветовой охват. Недостатком является высокая стоимость отпечатка.
